There are many advantages to being a member of CUPE, a strong, democratic union. One of the biggest is never having to face your employer alone.
A union is YOU and your CO-WORKERS coming together to improve your working conditions. As a union you have a legally recognized voice that your employer cannot ignore. Together with your co-workers you will decide what’s important and what about your job needs to change for the better.
In CUPE, members decide everything, including dues — that is your pooled resources as workers to build strong campaigns to win the improvements you want.
University workers are stronger together with CUPE
The Canadian Union of Public Employees is the largest union in the country for university workers and has the best collective agreements for academics. It is a democratic union. When you and your co-workers join CUPE, you’ll be surveyed on priorities, will vote on what goes to the bargaining table and will vote on any agreement made. CUPE will provide many supports, but the Faculty of Education sessional instructors at Brock University will make the decisions.
